A self-portrait is when an artist-photographer takes a photo of themselves—called a ‘selfie’ in today’s social media language. The Photographers thought about how they can position their cell phone or camera to capture the head and face in interesting ways. They sought out reflective surfaces like a mirror, glass, or water reflection to capture likeness and they chose close-ups that include a portion of the face that includes the eyes, which are the most communicative part of the face.
